SNL Trump Satire and Other SNL Follies

SNL was hosted by Emma Stone last night.  It was her 3rd time hosting.  “Let’s make this night special together”, Emma said while finishing her monologue.    Well, special, it was not.

It was so special, Donald Trump tweeted:

“Just tried watching Saturday Night Live – unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can’t get any worse. Sad” (Twitter)

I watched the video segment called “Class Room Cold Open” of Alec Baldwin mocking Mr. Trump and how he uses twitter.

It was boring and unfunny. I much more enjoyed the Hilary and Trump mocked debates. Lorne Michaels and the cast should have quit while they were ahead. I think they will likely lose many, hardened SNL followers.

Now, after the election, the satire continues but is about as funny as watching paint dry.

The parody to produce something funny after such a loss is nauseating.  Lorne Michaels, a staunch supporter of Hillary Clinton,  must be getting pretty desperate by now.

The featured skit mocks Trump’s twitter fetish and his inability to stop tweeting during a national security meeting with his advisers. He is seated next to Kate McKinnon who plays both Hillary Clinton and Kelly Ann Conway.   Kate looked disgusted and uninvolved.  The skit also depicts White House chief strategist Steve Bannon as Death, complete with a ghoulish mask and a devilish, electronically modified voice.

LAME.

The only real entertaining part of the show was an SNL digital short and parody of Sasquatch Hunters called “Hunting for Hil”.

Weekend Update, was, of course, the worst.  It’s one of the main reasons people are not watching SNL anymore.  Mostly written by Colin Jost, a liberal 20 something yuppie, Harvard embarrassment and SNL wannabe.  Dennis Miller he is not.

The only highlight of Weekend Update is Vanessa Bayer’s impression of Rachel from Friends.

I’ve always liked the SNL of old, the artists who are invited to the show and the non-political skits. Maybe Lorne should just put the election misery behind him and move on before he looses all of his die-hard SNL fans for good.

  1. I really like the cast of SNL. I just can’t stomach the anti-Trump rhetoric the show has been spewing on weekend update for the past few months. It’s a true example of the epitome of what’s wrong with the media bias in this country.
