President Obama said he could have beaten Trump if given the chance to run against him. Trump quickly responded “No Way!”
Of course, Obama could not run a third term anyway, so the point is mute. Could this be more media spin from the Post? It’s still arrogant to even suggest such a thing, and Trump should not have responded to this really stupid article coming from the post and other media sources.
Obama was speaking through a podcast conducted by long-time Democratic political operative and former senior adviser David Axelrod. This was also reported to be an exit interview.
It’s no doubt that the arrogance of the man is quite astounding.
In these reports, Obama is most critical of the democrats for ‘easing up’ in the election falsely thinking they had the election already won.
“If you think you’re winning, then you have a tendency, just like in sports, maybe to play it safer,” Obama said.
Also saying the he could have mobilized the majority of Americans into his camp on the issues. WOW, are you still not listening to the American people?
It goes to show how out of touch Obama still is with the American people. He continues to think Obama care and his failed policies continue to work and shrugs off the notion that he put together a winning coalition and that not his policies, but Hilary’s campaign lost the election.
“I am confident in this vision because I’m confident that if I — if I had run again and articulated it — I think I could’ve mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it,” the president said.
“See, I think the issue was less that Democrats have somehow abandoned the white working class, I think that’s nonsense,” Obama said. “Look, the Affordable Care Act benefits a huge number of Trump voters. There are a lot of folks in places like West Virginia or Kentucky who didn’t vote for Hillary, didn’t vote for me, but are being helped by this . . . The problem is, is that we’re not there on the ground communicating not only the dry policy aspects of this, but that we care about these communities, that we’re bleeding for these communities.” – Barack Obama (Washington Post)
Again, our virtual reality president, completely out-of-touch with the pulse of America.
