This may take the cake for the most irresponsible and stupid act of journalism.
So, 10 days before the inauguration, the leftard media is at it again. This will be Obama’s legacy: Flaming the fire of media discourse in the 11th hour of office. More on Russian hacking and how it has compromising information on our president-elect.
That’s a twist. First it was all about the compromised election, now it’s back on Trump.
It was reported that a dossier summary released by Buzzfeed alleges Trump has deep ties with Russia concerning the election and how they groomed and cultivated the candidate for president. The claim alleges the now-President-elect had been in contact with Russian intermediaries for five years and Russia has been collecting ‘compromising information on Mr. Trump.
We are now to believe Mr. Trump has been blackmailed. Remember when I said last month the best is yet to come? (Russian Hacking and other Nonsense) Here we go on the next media rollercoaster ride.
Trump then posted a link to an article criticizing BuzzFeed and using the hashtag #Fakenews.
The dossier makes unverified, yet surprising allegations that the Russian government has been “cultivating, supporting and assisting” President-elect Donald Trump for years and gained compromising information about him and circulating this information among elected officials, intelligence agents, and journalists for weeks.
I watched this information leak out to the general media and now it’s headline news on NBC. CNN ran with it before even substantiating the claims. Apparently the claim was released in a 2 page document collected by a British intelligence operative deemed to be “credible”.
CNN – Breaking News: Intel Chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him.
Buzzfeed News published the full document online.
Trump immediately shot back on Twitter calling it “fake news and a total Political Witch hunt”.
Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, told Mic that the allegations were absolutely false.
“It’s so ridiculous on so many levels,” he said. “Clearly, the person who created this did so from their imagination or did so hoping that the liberal media would run with this fake story for whatever rationale they might have.”
Trump also retweeted a post by Mr. Cohen, refuting the report that Cohen secretly met with Kremlin officials in Prague last year. Cohen says that he has never been to Prague for any reason and posted a picture of his passport in the tweet.
Sean Spicer criticized BuzzFeed’s decision to publish the report and said that Buzzfeed itself admits, “as we noted in our story there is serious reason to doubt the allegations”. Just pathetic.
Unfortunately, we have seen this before. Last month as the news broke about Russian meddling in the election and Trumps response, Huff Post published a piece trying to show how Russia is manipulating Trump by comparing this to the 1962 movie “The Manchurian Candidate” starring Frank Sinatra and Laurence Harvey. A remake was made in 2004 with guess who? Maryl Streep. They write:
“Given the fondness that Trump and so many of his appointees seem to have for Russian President Vladimir Putin, life may be about to imitate – if not exceed – art.”
Another liberal point of view. But many, even some liberals, are quick to call this one out.
Polizette is quick to point out how this is just another journalistic spin and fuck-up that obviously CNN and other liberal media outlets will be quick to run.
It is a shocking breakdown of journalistic ethics.
Even Mother Jones declined to publish the full details and dossier.
“Even Donald Trump deserves journalistic fairness,” tweeted David Corn, Mother Jones’ Washington Bureau chief.
Other journalists, even one at the New York Times have their doubts to the truthfullness of the documents. Ben Smith, editor in Chief of Buzzfeed who broke the story also had some doubts:
“As we noted in our story, there is a serious reason to doubt the allegations,” he wrote. “We have been chasing specific claims in this document for weeks, and will continue to.”
Julia Ioffe, a journalist who left Politico after suggesting in a tweet that Trump might be having sex with his own daughter, tweeted Tuesday that she had been approached with the story that BuzzFeed ran with but declined to publish. “Because it was impossible to verify. (I tried.)” (PoliZette)
And so the show must go on. Now we are living inside the plot of the Manchurian Candidate if you believe the lies and media. When will it ever stop?
“We’re literally living inside the plot of The Manchurian Candidate. Like, this is actually fucking happening. We’re now all the auxiliary characters in one of the shitty seasons of 24. Unbelievable.” – Josh Groll of Chicago Illinois.
